At the age of 5 is when I started playing soccer in California, then at the age of 8 my family moved to Memphis TN. At the age of 8 is when I started playing competitive soccer until after I completed high school in 1999. During my youthful years, I played on teams that won state and regional championships. One accomplishment I had during the years of playing is that I competed and was chosen to be on the district and regional Olympic Development Program (ODP) team. After I graduated high school, I chose the path of getting a college degree from the University of Memphis. In 2005, I moved to Dexter MO and married Chad Calvert and we started our family that includes 3 girls that have all played soccer in the Dexter DPR league. I have been coaching with DPR for eight years. I love teaching the players skills and helping them understand how the sport is played. Soccer is a fast-paced sport and in a moment’s notice players need to be able to adjust to the pace of the game. I love coaching the kids and it brings me joy when I see players come back to the soccer field year after year. As the years progress, I can see how each player has grown and how their skills improve year after year. When I am coaching on the sidelines, I fully concentrate on the players and the game, even though sometimes I want to jump on the field and just play with them. During the years that I played soccer, I have had many memorable moments and I hope to create those type of memories with the Dexter DPR players.
